Luís Oliveira leads the way after the Bikes first 100 km of this year’s Baja Portalegre 500. The 2016 winner is aiming for the second victory at the event, but has Sebastian Buhler as a very strong rival. The Yamaha rider was second, conceding just 27 seconds after having lost only 0.4s on the Prologue.

On the other hand, as far as the Championship goes, António Maio is very close to the title. Maio finished the day in third, while his main Championship rival, Mário Patrão, manage only fifth, 4:23.7s from the leader. Between both Championship hopefuls is Daniel Jordão.

Regarding Quads, Rúben Alexandre has dominated the day. After setting the Prologue’s best result, the Yamaha YZF 450R was, again, the pace setter, ending the day with a 28 seconds advantage over Roberto Borrego. Teo Viñaras, also with a Yamaha, rounded up the provisional podium, while the already National Champion Arnaldo Martins is running fourth, almost two minutes behind the leader.

Finaly, Ricardo Carvalho is the SSV pace setter. The Yamaha YXZ 1000R driver was only 8th during the morning Prologue, but stepped up his rhythm and ended the leg with a 20.5 second margin over the Can Am Maverick pair, Luís Miguel Cidade/Fábio Ribeiro, second over all. João Dias and João Filipe, also at a Can Am’s wheel, are third. The pair was the Prologue pace setter, but lost 1:12s in the SS2 and are presently 1:01s behind Carvalho.
